Ngāti Ruapani ki Waikaremoana

The name of this organisation is Te Tatau Pounamu o Waikaremoana (TTPOW)

Objectives

The objectives of TTPOW are to:

  • Build a strong cultural, social, economic and political base for Ngāti Ruapani ki Waikaremoana.
  • Maintain the ‘mana motuhake’ and ‘tino rangatiratanga’ of the lands, forests, lakes and waterways, whānau and hapū of Ngāti Ruapani ki Waikaremoana
  • Unify all of the whānau, hapū, land trusts, governance entities and Treaty claimants at Waikaremoana
  • Unify all iwi data bases into a single registration base for Ngāti Ruapani descendants
  • Unify all of the landowners and rate payers at Waikaremoana and to prepare a hapū management plan to local and regional councils
  • Progress all of Ngāti Ruapani’s claims to mandate, AIP and Deed of Settlement
  • Collaborate with neighbouring iwi and stakeholders
  • Engage with Crown agencies and local Government bodies
  • Engage with local and non-local community organisations
  • Engage with local, national and global businesses
  • Co-operate with other co-operatives, trusts and governance entities both locally and non-locally
  • Expedite the cultural, social, economic and political aspirations of Ngāti Ruapani

A Description of TTPOW

Te Tatau Pounamu o Waikaremoana:

  • Is based on the whakapapa of its members to the lands, lakes and waterways of Waikaremoana
  • Represents Ngāti Ruapani ki Waikaremoana in negotiations with the Crown and other iwi
  • Progresses the goals and aspirations of Ngāti Ruapani ki Waikaremoana
